Social Media Approval Workflow: Owner and Client Sign-off Before Posts Go Live

Updated 2026-09-28

A social media approval workflow lets an owner or manager review a post before it publishes, instead of trusting a team member or an AI agent to post directly. IMMA AI builds this as a hosted approval page: whoever prepares a post sends a link the approver opens from Telegram, and nothing reaches the account until they approve it there.

What is a social media approval workflow?

A social media approval workflow is a review step between a post being drafted and a post going live, usually so someone other than the person or system that wrote it can check the content first. IMMA AI implements this as a hosted page at a unique link: the page shows the exact media, caption and target account, and for TikTok specifically also shows the privacy and interaction settings the approver has to choose themselves, since TikTok requires the account owner to make that choice. The approver can press "Approve and post," which publishes or schedules the content immediately, or "Request changes" with a short note, which sends the post back to draft and notifies whoever created it. Every decision is recorded with who approved it, when, and what exactly they saw, which matters both for agencies managing client trust and for TikTok's own review requirements.

How does client approval work for social media posts?

An agency preparing content for a client sends the approval link over Telegram instead of giving the client login access to the client's own social accounts. The client opens the link on their phone, no account or password required, sees the post exactly as it will appear, and either approves it or requests changes with a note the agency can act on. Links expire after 72 hours by default, configurable from 1 to 168 hours, and a post that gets edited after a client already approved it needs a fresh approval, since the approved content and the published content always have to match. This gives an agency a paper trail of who signed off on what, without needing a separate tool just for client communication, and without ever exposing the client's TikTok, Instagram, Facebook or Threads credentials to the agency's team.

Can an AI agent's posts go through the same approval workflow?

Yes, and that is the main reason IMMA AI built approval as a hosted link rather than an in-dashboard-only review step. An AI agent connected over MCP can draft a full batch of posts with create_posts_batch, and any post that needs a human sign-off, whether because it targets TikTok or because the workspace requires approval for AI-generated content, gets the exact same approval link a human-created post would get. The account owner sees the same preview, the same platform-specific settings, and the same "Approve and post" or "Request changes" choice regardless of whether a person or an agent prepared the draft. Posts made through MCP carry a source and an ai_generated flag so the workspace can see which came from an agent, but the review itself is never lighter-weight for AI-generated content, since TikTok's rules require a real human decision no matter what created the draft.

How it works

An approval request can be created from the dashboard composer, from the REST API with approval.mode: "link", from the MCP create_post tool, or automatically whenever a TikTok post has no other consent already captured. IMMA AI generates the link, the approver reviews it, and once approved the post moves into the normal publishing queue. See the TikTok scheduler page for how this connects to TikTok's own consent requirements, or social media API for the request format.
